No lie, this is one of the easiest if not THE easiest DIY ever. I love the look of white, neutral, and soft colored pumpkins for fall and halloween decorations. The classic orange pumpkin is just not my style and I won’t even apologize for it!

I was figuring out what I wanted to do for our front porch decor for fall and Halloween this year when I scrolled Instagram and immediately stopped on a Liz Marie Galvan photo! I saw faux white pumpkins with different cute, carved faces lining her steps up tp her large farmhouse porch and I instantly knew that’s what I wanted to do. I don’t love the spooky, scary parts of Halloween so I never want to decorate like that. I figured this would be an on-theme way to decorate while still being really fun and fit with our coastal cottage/farmhouse vibe.

All you need are faux pumpkins and white spray paint. That’s seriously it!!

I got our pumpkins from Target. I got some that were ‘carved’ with faces and were pre-lit and then others that were not carved. Since you will be spray painting them, I went for whatever different shapes and sizes I could find and didn’t care what color they were.

I got Rust-Oleum Universal all surface spray paint that’s meant for outdoors so they would hold up in our weather. I draped an old sheet that we use as a painting drop cloth on the ground and on some tree branches in our backyard to somewhat block some of the spray paint from floating astray.  The spray paint still kind of goes wherever but it at least helps a little bit. I just made sure to get all sides and crevices fully coved which took a few times back and forth. I also made sure that I got as much as the bottom areas as I could with them just sitting. Overall it was a very quick and simple painting process with zero mess. It dries very quickly but I left them outside a few hours after they were dry to just make sure the smell didn’t linger after I would move them into our garage. After they fully dried, I checked to see if any other spots needed some more coverage, and the bottom curved areas seemed to be the only place that did so I put the pumpkins that needed some extra paint on their sides to get the bottom section a little better.

I added batteries into the 2 pumpkins that are prelit and began to arrange them on our porch. I displayed them next to 2 planters of mums and along 1 real pumpkin that I also spray painted white and a white ceramic pumpkin that I also picked up in Target. I most definitely want to get lots more of the ‘carved’ prelit pumpkins because it really makes the porch look so cute!!

It is seriously the easiest DIY and can easily be done in just a few hours! If you like to decorate on the slightly spookier side, spray painting them matte black would be such a cool design option as well! If you decide to try this simple pumpkin DIY out, tag me on Instagram! I can’t wait to see!!
