We’ve had our bedding since we’ve been married so a little over 5 years. We initially had everything set up in our apartment and when we moved into our house I knew I would want to finally fully style our room. It was not a pertinent room to really go all out in since other parts of the house needed our attention and money more. We took the carpet out, refinished the wood floors that were under the carpeting, and painted the walls/trim. I wanted a moody accent wall that was a deep but warm gray and would paint the other walls a complimentary light, airy gray. We did just that and kept our bedding and furniture the same.

Our duvet cover actually hasn’t held up that well in the 5 years we have been married. I think we registered for it at Bed, Bath, and Beyond? All of the buttons fell off and there were some rips. Our apartment had no air conditioning and for whatever reason was always 80 or more in the fall, winter, and spring even with the heat off and the summer was just whatever brutal temperature it was outside. Gross, but the sweat (my husband will admit it was him) from sleeping definitely discolored the top portion of the duvet cover. It has been long overdue to get a new one but again it wasn’t a complete necessity.

I wanted grays to all coexist with each other in the space but there are a lot of different gray tones and colors so most of the grays we had for the bedding didn’t mesh well. Over the years, I have purchased one gray silk pillow case, 2 matching gray linen pillow case covers from Parachute, and gray oversized Euro decorative pillows. We had a blanket that came with 2 matching shams and I have had a random gray striped pillow case for a king size pillow for years. It was all just a mish mosh of gray colors that didn’t mesh well. On top of that, the dark gray accent wall sometimes pulls more deep blues so it throws off the gray tones even more. It all just needed a slight change and that duvet cover needed to go.

I looked around for a duvet cover that wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg but needed one that actually had good, reliable quality. I decided to try out the Brooklinen Classic Duvet Cover in white for a King/California King. When I first got it I thought it felt like hospital sheets but after washing and drying it, it definitely felt way more comfortable and sleeping with it the last couple weeks has been so nice!

The other small refresh was swapping out the gray blanket for a neutral chunky knit throw blanket. I picked this throw up from Target in the king size  for under $100!I t is so incredibly soft, plus it looks so nice on the bed and in the room. That neutral tone really grounded all of the grays that were too all over the place.

It was such an easy refresh to our space while making it feel so much more warm and inviting. We still have a long way to go with this room but we are in no rush!
